On your safari, you will journey to the enchanting Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where a thrilling encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas awaits. This experience offers a chance to delve into the gorillas’ lifestyle, capture stunning photos, and create unforgettable memories. Your journey will take you to Kibale National Park, renowned as the primate capital, where you can encounter around 13 species of primates, including the fascinating chimpanzees.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park

Upon arrival on the first day of your 5 Days Uganda Gorilla and chimp from Kigali, you will be greeted by our driver guide, who will provide a brief overview of the adventure ahead. Then, the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda will commence. As you journey along, you will enjoy a delightful lunch and breathtaking vistas of Rwanda’s undulating hills, charming landscapes, and quaint homesteads. The drive spans approximately 3 to 4 hours, winding through the Cyanika border in Kisoro district. Once you arrive, you will head to the lodge to check in, enjoy dinner, and settle in for the night.

Day 2: Embarking on an exhilarating journey to trek gorillas in the heart of Bwindi impenetrable national park

On the second day of your 5-day gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari from Kigali, you will start with an early breakfast. Afterward, you will pack your lunch and meet your driver guide for a transfer to the park headquarters, where you will receive a briefing on the rules, regulations, and what to expect during your gorilla trekking adventure. Following the briefing, you will be divided into groups of eight, assigned to a gorilla group for trekking, and paired with a knowledgeable park guide who is familiar with the gorillas and the jungle trails. Individuals are grouped based on age, personal preference, and physical fitness. If you find yourself not in peak physical condition, it is important to let your guide know so they can assign you to a gorilla group that is more suitable for an enjoyable trek.

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park begins around 8:00 AM and can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 7 hours, depending on where the gorillas are located. Once you find them, you will have the chance to spend one hour in their natural habitat, where you can observe their behaviors and habits, take photos, and capture unforgettable moments. Following your hour spent with the gorillas, you will make your way back to the park headquarters, where you will receive a certificate for your gorilla trekking experience. Afterward, you will reunite with your driver guide and head to the lodge for a relaxing dinner and a restful overnight stay.

Day 3: Journey to Kibale National Park

On the third day of your 5-day gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari from Kigali, you will enjoy an early breakfast, check out of the lodge, and meet your driver guide for the transfer to Kibale National Park. As you journey, you will traverse the Ishasha sector, nestled in the southern region of Queen Elizabeth National Park, the second largest national park in Uganda. The Ishasha sector is renowned for its remarkable tree-climbing lions, often seen lounging in the branches of fig and acacia trees, intently watching the antelopes below. Following the game drive in the Ishasha sector, you will enjoy a delightful lunch on the way and then proceed to Kibale National Park, taking in the stunning vistas of the tea plantations along the journey. Upon arrival, you will settle into the lodge, enjoy a delightful dinner, and spend the night in comfort.

Day 4: Embark on an exhilarating journey with chimpanzee trekking and a captivating stroll through Bigodi swamp.

On the fourth day of your 5-day safari from Kigali, after an early breakfast, you will gather with your driver guide for a transfer to the park headquarters. There, you will receive an exciting briefing about the rules and regulations of chimpanzee trekking. Following the briefing, you will be assigned a familiar chimpanzee family to explore and a knowledgeable park guide who is well-acquainted with the forest trails. The trek to find chimpanzees in Kibale National Park can last anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours, depending on where the chimpanzees are located, as they often venture deep into the forest in search of food, particularly during the dry season. Once the chimpanzees have been located, you will have the chance to spend an hour with them in their wild habitat. This experience allows you to observe their habits and behaviors, watch them frolicking in the trees, nursing, and foraging, all while capturing photos and videos. Following an exhilarating meeting with the chimpanzees, you will embark on a trek back to the park headquarters, where you will reunite with your driver guide for a transfer to the lodge to enjoy a delightful lunch.

After lunch, you will embark on an exciting nature walk through the enchanting Bigodi swamp. The nature walk in the sanctuary spans approximately 3 hours, meandering through vibrant vegetation that invites you to encounter a variety of bird species, including the magnificent great blue turaco, hornbills, and kingfishers. You will also spot primates such as red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, l’hoest monkeys, blue monkeys, and grey checked mangabeys, along with animals like bushbucks and otters, all from the forest boardwalks, pathways, and a treetop house nestled in the canopy. Following the nature walk, you will reconnect with your driver guide and embark on a journey back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Setting off for Kigali

On the final day of your 5-day safari exploring gorillas and chimpanzees from Kigali, you will enjoy a leisurely breakfast, check out of the lodge, and meet your driver guide for the transfer back to Kigali. Your journey will take you through the Katuna border in Kabale, where your driver guide will then escort you to Kigali International Airport for your flight or to any location that suits your needs.
