Day 1: Arrival and Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

We expect you to be in Kampala/Entebbe or arriving on an early morning flight before 9am. Our 3 days Bwindi gorilla safari will begin with a pick-up by our guide from Adventure in the Wild Safaris, who will share insights about our tour before driving you to Bwindi via the Kampala-Masaka-Mbarara route.

As you savor the picturesque drive, you will pause in Kayambwe town at the equator for some memorable photography and experiments, before continuing your adventure to the Igongo cultural center in Mbarara for a delightful lunch along the way.

Prepare for an exciting arrival at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its rich ecosystem, as you reach your lodge late in the evening for an overnight stay. We suggest you unwind and get to bed early to recharge for the exciting journey that awaits.

Day 2: Prepare for an exhilarating day of trekking through the lush wilderness in search of majestic gorillas.

Wake up at dawn and enjoy a robust breakfast at the lodge to energize yourself for the exciting journey ahead, the Uganda gorilla trekking experience. Be sure to bring your packed lunch, as the time spent exploring the incredible mountain gorillas is unpredictable.

Your guide will then take you to the park headquarters, where park rangers will provide an engaging briefing about the gorilla families, their behaviors, and the important trekking guidelines to ensure a safe and respectful experience in the wild.

Following the briefing, you will be split into small groups of 8, guided by seasoned park rangers and gorilla trackers, and assigned to a particular gorilla family/group for tracking adventures.

Set off on a unique hiking journey into the dense forest at approximately 8am, guided by rangers along the paths of mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking is an exhilarating experience, as it hinges on the location and movement of the gorillas. However, once you track them down, every step into the jungle becomes a moment to cherish.

By adhering to the park rangers’ guides and rules provided earlier, you will have a full hour to observe gorillas up close and personal in their natural habitat and discover the incredible details of their fascinating lives.

Gorilla trekking offers an exhilarating and fulfilling wildlife experience in Uganda, making it the most breathtaking activity in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest that promises to leave you with unforgettable memories. Embarking on a gorilla trekking tour can be quite the challenge, requiring a good level of fitness, but the experience is incredibly fulfilling as you navigate through the lush forest.

After returning to the lodge, unwind in the serene surroundings or embark on a visit to the Batwa community, where you’ll be immersed in their vibrant culture through music, dance, and storytelling. Later, enjoy a delightful dinner and settle in for a restful night at the lodge you’ve reserved.

Another option is to embark on a canoe riding experience on either Lake Bunyonyi or Lake Mutanda, depending on the sector from which you began your gorilla trekking adventure.

Day 3: Journey Back to Kampala, Entebbe or Kigali

After a delicious breakfast and checking out of the lodge, you have the exciting option to transfer back to your hotel in Kampala, head straight to the airport in Entebbe, or embark on a journey across the border to Rwanda for a city tour in Kigali before your return flight.
