In the 1970s, Uganda’s notorious dictator Idi Amin Dada took it upon himself to rename the park to Kabarega Falls National Park, but once he was ousted from power, the original name, Murchison Falls, was restored. Day 1: Journey to Murchison Falls – Pause at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Following your breakfast, a guide from Adventure in the Wild Safaris will arrive at your hotel to pick you up at 7:00am. The guide will prepare you and provide essential details about your exciting journey through Uganda. Your exciting 6-hour journey to Murchison Falls National Park will commence. The countryside is alive with vibrant farms and sprawling banana plantations. At 7:00am, your journey begins with an exhilarating morning game drive, typically along the Delta of Lake Albert. Here, you will encounter the stunning Savannah grasslands and gaze upon the majestic Budongo forest. During the safari, a knowledgeable park guide/ranger will accompany you, expertly navigating the terrain to help you discover the wildlife that calls this place home. Prepare to encounter a variety of mammals such as warthogs, antelope, lions, hyenas, giraffes, and primates, among others. Afterward, you will return to your lodge for lunch, take a moment to refresh, and get ready for the exciting mega launch cruise ahead.

Hippos in Murchison Falls National Park are a sight to behold. While on the cruise, get ready to encounter over 200 bird species, including Kingfishers and the shoe-billed stork, as well as Nile crocodiles, hippos, monitor lizards, elephants, and a variety of animals observed during your early morning safari along the river Nile shores.  The boat gently glides you toward the base of the Murchison Falls, where an exhilarating climb awaits you to reach the summit of the falls.
