This package is perfect for families and friends looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital for a weekend getaway, or for visitors attending a conference in Entebbe/Kampala. Lake Mburo National Park is located approximately 240 km from Kampala, along the scenic Masaka – Mbarara Road. Traveling from Kampala, you can effortlessly reach the park via the Nshara gate, just a short 15-kilometer drive from the main road.
3 Days Lake MburoLake Mburo National Park spans approximately 260 square kilometers, featuring rolling hills, savanna grasslands, rocky outcrops, valleys, acacia woodlands, swamps, and lakes. Lake Mburo National Park is believed to be a continuation of the Serengeti plains in Tanzania. Despite being the tiniest national park in Uganda, Lake Mburo boasts remarkable biodiversity and a unique landscape that sets it apart from other parks in the country. Fourteen lakes are nestled within the park, each embraced by expansive wetlands that provide a vibrant habitat for over 300 species of birds to flourish.
Lake Mburo stands out as a major highlight within the park. In the heart of a vast valley within the park, there once lived two brothers named Kigarama and Mburo, as told by local legend. Kigarama experienced a vivid dream where a massive flood surged through the valley. He cautioned his brother that they should venture away from the valley and into the hills. Kigarama ventured into the hills, leaving the valley behind, while his brother Mburo chose to disregard his counsel. Kigarama’s dream became a reality as a mighty flood surged through the valley, engulfing his brother in its depths. The flood created a vast expanse of water that has come to be known as Lake Mburo.
