Day 1: Arrival.
Upon your arrival, our company representative will greet you at Entebbe airport and take you on an exciting journey to your hotel in Kampala. Depending on your arrival time, you might embark on an exciting city tour that includes stops at the Namugongo martyrs shrine, Kasubi royal tombs, Kabaka’s lake, Bahai temple, and the Uganda Museum. Explore the vibrant local markets and charming craft villages before heading back to your cozy lodge. OR, Unwind at your hotel for the day. Enjoy a delightful dinner followed by a night at Cassia Lodge.
Day 2: Journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Five hours
Prepare for an exciting early breakfast before embarking on a scenic drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Along the way, you will have a thrilling stop at Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking, followed by a delightful lunch in Masindi town. Make your way to Murchison Falls, arriving in the afternoon. This is the largest park in Uganda, spanning nearly 4000 km2, and stands out as one of the most breathtaking parks across the African continent. There are the breathtaking falls that give the park its name, wild savannah, lush woodland, and amazing wildlife. Arrive at your hotel, unwind, enjoy a delightful dinner, and spend the night at Sambiya River Lodge (Cottage).
Day 3: Murchison Falls National Park awaits with thrilling experiences.
A thrilling day of wildlife exploration at Murchison; Start with an exhilarating morning game drive, searching for majestic elephants, powerful buffalo, graceful giraffes, swift antelope, regal lions, elusive leopards, and cunning jackals. If fortune smiles upon us, we might just cross paths with one of Murchison’s rare cheetahs.
In the afternoon, you will embark on an exhilarating boat trip to the base of the towering 43m high falls. This is also a fantastic chance to encounter some of Murchison’s 460 bird species, such as the shoebill stork and goliath heron. Prepare to encounter one of Africa’s most vibrant gatherings of hippos and crocodiles. Dinner and an overnight stay as previously mentioned.
Day 4: Journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park. (9 Hours)
Following breakfast, you will embark on a journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in the late afternoon. This is an exhilarating day on the road. Embrace the evening as you unwind and let your spirit roam free. Evening meal and a night stay at Enganzi Game Lodge
Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Savor your breakfast before embarking on a thrilling morning game drive through the Kasenyi area, where you will come across majestic African elephants, herds of buffaloes, eland, bushbuck, topis, and playful warthogs, among others. Explore the Katwe salt pans and experience the fascinating process of salt mining in Uganda before heading back to your hotel for a delightful lunch.
In the afternoon, embark on a thrilling boat cruise down the Kazinga Channel, where you will encounter remarkable wildlife in their natural habitat. Prepare to encounter a multitude of hippos, buffalos, and an impressive variety of birds, possibly featuring the majestic African Fish Eagle and the unique shoebill stork. Head back to the hotel for a delightful dinner and a cozy overnight stay as previously mentioned.
Day 6: Ishasha Sector, Queen Elizabeth National Park
In the morning, you will embark on your journey to the southern Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth. This is a rugged and untamed savannah region, far more untouched than the Mweya peninsula. The wildlife observation is exceptional, especially as this area is renowned for its unique tree-climbing lions. Head back to your lodge for a cozy evening filled with relaxation, a delightful dinner, and a restful night ahead.
Day 7: Journey to Bwindi National Park (4 Hours)
Embark on a morning journey through the Ishasha sector, where the thrill of spotting more lions and the elusive leopard awaits you. Then bid farewell to Queen Elizabeth and journey down to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, arriving in the afternoon. Arrive, relax, enjoy dinner, and spend the night at Wagtail Eco safari camp.
Day 8: Embarking on a Gorilla Trek in Bwindi
Following a delightful breakfast, you will set off with your packed lunch, heading to the park headquarters for an exciting briefing before venturing into the forest for an unforgettable gorilla trekking experience! Your child can enjoy that time at the hotel or explore the surroundings with a guide by their side. Gorilla trekking can last anywhere from one hour to four, depending on how the gorillas are moving.
The time left after encountering the gorillas can be devoted to unwinding and reminiscing about the trek or exploring the foothills and engaging with local communities. Dinner and an overnight stay as previously mentioned.
Day 9: Encounter with the Batwa Pygmies and the Local Community – Bwindi
Start your day with breakfast before embarking on an exhilarating journey along the Batwa cultural trail. Experience an unforgettable day hike through the lush rain forest alongside knowledgeable Batwa guides. Day 10; Journey to Lake Bunyonyi (3-4 Hours)
Following breakfast, you will embark on a journey to Lake Bunyonyi, arriving just in time to enjoy a delightful lunch. Prepare for an exhilarating afternoon boat ride on Lake Bunyonyi, where you will explore various islands and immerse yourself in the vibrant local lifestyles. You will have the chance to observe the unique ways of life, including the craftsmanship of blacksmiths, artisans, and local women showcasing their impressive weaving skills. Day 11; Journey to Ruhengeri – Rwanda (3 Hours)
Savor your breakfast and set off early on your exciting journey to Rwanda, with a delightful lunch along the way. You will explore Iby’iwacu, which translates to treasures of our home, our heritage, where you will discover all there is to know about the Rwandese way of life!
Engage in a community walk led by a local resident, where you can explore the king’s house with insights from a knowledgeable historical and cultural guide, allowing you to experience the royal life for moments, hours, or even days. Delight in eight vibrant traditional dances performed by various community members, including men, women, youth, and children, accompanied by an array of local musical instruments such as Intore dances, drumming, Ibyivugo, Umuduri, Ikembe, Iningiri, Inanga, Ingoma, Amakondera, Agakenke, and more. Explore the wisdom of traditional healers and discover the fascinating stories behind various trees, shrubs, and grasses, along with their medicinal uses and the ways they are provided to local patients. Day 12; Bisoke (Visoke) Hike – Volcanoes National Park awaits with thrilling experiences.
After a delightful breakfast, you will embark on an exhilarating hike to Mt. Bisoke, nestled within the stunning landscapes of Volcanoes National Park, the sanctuary of Rwanda’s majestic gorillas. Upon reaching the summit, a stunning crater lake awaits you, and the entire experience is truly breathtaking!
As you journey along the trail, you will encounter an abundance of birdlife and stunning landscapes – a testament to why Rwanda is known as the “land of a thousand hills.” Venture into the nearby villages surrounding the park and make your way back to your lodge. Day 13; Journey back to Kampala. (10 Hours)
Your day begins with an early breakfast, setting the stage for an exciting journey back to Kampala. Along the way, you will pause for lunch in Mbarara town at Igongo Cultural Centre, where you will delve deeper into the rich Ankole culture of the people from western Uganda.
Embarking on this journey along a smooth tarmac road leads you through the enchanting Lake Mburo National Park, where, on a fortunate day, you might catch sight of zebras and antelopes peacefully grazing by the roadside! Zebras are exclusively found in Lake Mburo National Park, making this location a one-of-a-kind destination for those seeking to encounter these remarkable creatures.
Make another exciting stop at the Equator for a memorable experience and stunning photography, then head to Mpambire to dive into the art of drum making! It’s a thrilling journey. Proceed to Kampala, reaching your destination by evening. Evening meal and a night stay at Cassia Lodge
Day 14: Journey to the Airport and Farewell. Three-quarters of an hour
Start your day with a delightful breakfast, and based on your departure time, if the city tour couldn’t be arranged on day 1, you’ll embark on a quick exploration of the city before transferring to Entebbe airport for your onward flight, taking with you unforgettable memories of your Uganda and Rwanda Safari.
