Thula Thula Safari Lodge : Rates, Reviews, Booking Information
Profoundly immersed in Zulu culture, isolated from external influences.
Thula Thula Safari Lodge, named from Zulu meaning “peace and quiet,” is the oldest private game reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, offering refuge for the Big 5, especially elephants and rhinos. The lodge offers a fusion of Zulu history, aesthetics, and gastronomy, reflecting the area’s long-standing association with the Zulu people.
Thula Thula was the residence of the late Lawrence Anthony, a conservationist and author of “The Elephant Whisperer”. The lodge is situated about two hours north of Durban, with opportunities to visit the adjacent Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park and Zulu settlements. Game drives, bush walks, mountain biking, massages, gourmet champagne lunches, and cookery workshops are exclusive offerings of the lodge.
The Safari Lodge offers opulent suites and rooms, decorated with ethnic and colonial motifs, each equipped with a private verandah. Indulge in authentic South African home cuisine, presented in the dining room, by the pool, on the verandah, or in the boma around a fire beneath a starlit sky. Indulge in unique cocktails at the Marula Bar, or relax in the thatched lapa while observing wildlife at the waterhole.
