Coffee plantation situated immediately south of the Ngorongoro Crater

The Ngorongoro Crater, formerly the site of a colossal volcano believed to surpass Kilimanjaro in height, now serves as a protected basin for thriving animals and plants.  Regarded as the sole complete caldera globally, with a depth of 2,000 feet and an area of 26,000 hectares, it is not surprise that Ngorongoro is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.  The Manor at Ngorongoro, situated on the Shangri-La Coffee estate, offers a distinctive luxury experience in this fertile region of Tanzania.

 The vistas from the Ngorongoro rim are magnificent, while the crater floor is inhabited by wildlife.  The Lerai Forest in the southwest is reputed to offer the finest leopard sightings on the continent.  Visitors will observe Maasai ranchers tending to their cattle, as natural predators traverse the area in pursuit of their next meal.  Some of the few free-ranging black rhinos graze in certain areas, while African elephants traverse ancient paths.
