Shumbalala Lodge

Shumbalala Lodge : Rates, Reviews, Booking Information

All of Kruger’s fauna, devoid of the throngs

Kruger National Park is renowned for both its abundant wildlife and its heavily trafficked roadways frequented by tourists.  Shumbalala Lodge, situated in the adjacent Thornybush Game Reserve, offers all the advantages of Kruger without any of the disadvantages.  Thornybush provides a more exclusive safari experience, allowing guests to off-road and do nocturnal drives in search of wildlife.

The 14,000-hectare Thornybush Private Game Reserve boasts an extraordinary wildlife population.  Track lion prides, see playful elephants bathing at the watering hole, and attempt to locate the elusive cheetah as it moves stealthily through the tall grass.  Night drives in Thornybush may unveil the reserve’s nocturnal inhabitants, including the honey badger, aardvark, and caracal.

Partake in a Shumbalala breakfast on the verandah, indulge in late-afternoon tea on the viewing deck overlooking the waterhole, or savor an apéritif by the boma’s fire in the evening.  Retreat to the lodge’s en-suite Superior Suites, with a lounge and private viewing deck, or indulge in the luxurious Presidential Suite, which includes an exclusive lounge, dining room, private boma, and plunge pool.
