Navigate the Selinda Spillway
The Selinda Spillway, previously arid for 30 years, has now transformed into a permanent aquatic conduit linking the northern region of the Okavango Delta with the Linyanti Swamps. The floods resulted in an abundance of animals, leading to the creation of the Selinda Adventure Trail—a five-day canoe expedition where participants navigate the Spillway and camp along the riverbanks.
A day on the canoe trail commences at daybreak in 18-foot Canadian canoes. Visitors navigate the Spillway, traversing riverine woods, floodplains, and expansive savannahs. Observe wildlife traversing the riverbanks and exit from the canoes to pursue animal tracks on foot with knowledgeable guides. The day concludes with an arrival at the campsite prior to dusk, allowing guests to engage in swimming and birdwatching throughout the late afternoon.
The camp comprises transportable dome tents that can host two people and are equipped with a bucket shower and a ‘short drop’ toilet. Evenings are dedicated to gathering around the fire and enjoying exquisite meals prepared by the trail chef.
