Masoala Forest Lodge: the convergence of rainforest and ocean
Masoala Forest Lodge, situated on a rainforest-clad peninsula and in proximity to the tranquil Indian Ocean, offers guests the opportunity to explore a very isolated and exceptional region of Madagascar. This retreat, reachable alone by foot or boat, overlooks the azure seas of Antongil Bay and is in proximity to Tamolo Marine Reserve.
Due to Madagascar’s prolonged isolation, the fauna and flora that evolved during this period are entirely peculiar to its environment. This island hosts a diverse array of wildlife that is exclusive to it, including chameleons, birds, and lemurs. Numerous hiking and kayaking opportunities exist in this aquatic and terrestrial haven.
Masoala hosts visitors in seven palm-thatched treehouses, influenced by traditional architecture and elevated on wooden platforms. These energy-efficient, covered tents offer spectacular vistas of the forest canopy and ocean. Guests may access the lodge’s two social spaces that overlook the bay, including dining, lounge, and bar facilities. Activities encompass snorkeling, swimming, whale observation, angling, and trekking.
