MalaMala Camp in South Africa: History and Wildlife
MalaMala Camp, situated next to the Sand River, is among the oldest private game reserves in South Africa. The unfenced camp is intended to optimize the surrounding wilderness—savor stunning vistas from your private suite while observing visiting antelope, elephants, and avian species.
It is a wildlife sanctuary for the ‘MalaMala Seven’ – rhinoceros, elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, cheetah, and wild dog. Experience these remarkable animals on special safaris conducted by highly experienced guides. MalaMala was among the inaugural private camps to transition from hunting safaris to photographic safaris, allowing guests to capture the ideal image using the reserve’s camera van. Utilize leisure time relaxing on the wooden safari deck for optimal animal observation at the Sand River’s side, or browse at the on-site boutique.
Select between a Single Room, Luxury Room, or Luxury Suite, discreetly nestled within the camp’s foliage and flora. Each room is equipped with dual bathrooms, minibars, tea and coffee amenities, safes, and climate control systems. Children of all ages are permitted, and Family Rooms can be requested.
