Captivating Macatoo
The Okavango Delta, one of the largest interior river systems globally, comprises numerous streams and floodplains that have consistently attracted wildlife enthusiasts, safari participants, and adventurous travelers. Macatoo Camp enables visitors to the Delta to experience this UNESCO World Heritage Site not just by vehicle and boat but also on horseback.
This water-rich sanctuary in the Kalahari Desert is teeming with large animals and avian species. The Okavango, undoubtedly one of Botswana’s and Africa’s premier attractions, has been designated as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. The drier regions host giraffes, zebras, blue wildebeests, and impalas, but the floodplains attract red lechwes, hippos, and elephants. Predominant predators observed in the region encompass lions and spotted hyenas.
The meal tent, eight lodging tents, pool, and dining deck at Macatoo are interconnected by wooden walkways. The pool provides a view of an expansive floodplain that draws elephants and giraffes, which often approach the viewing deck with curiosity. Each tent is built on an elevated platform, affording great views of the surrounding Delta.
