Safari along the banks of the Makhutsi River

Karongwe Private Nature Reserve is situated in South Africa’s esteemed Lowveld region inside the Limpopo Province, approximately one hour’s drive from Kruger National Park.  Located along the banks of the Makhutsi River, Karongwe River Lodge and its amiable staff will reveal the unique attributes of the park.

The reserve encompasses 9,000 hectares, traversed by the Big Five and numerous other creatures, while over 365 distinct bird species can be observed navigating the verdant bush and diverse array of trees.  The exceptionally knowledgeable guides render game drives a profoundly interesting experience and may provide the possibility to observe cheetahs on foot.  The lodge features a private waterhole, frequented by its 11 suites, inhabited by hippos and crocodiles, and occasionally visited by bathing elephants, while nyala and warthogs are common in the camp vicinity.
