Family-oriented safari in the Eastern Cape

Kariega Main Lodge is the inaugural establishment among four lodges located within the malaria-free Kariega Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape.  Family-owned and operated, its 10,000 hectares accommodate the Big Five, striking vistas, and diverse ecosystems.

Twice-daily game drives are the core of safari activities at Kariega; however, river cruises on the Kariega Queen are also available, enabling the observation of avian and wildlife at a more relaxed tempo.  Guided safari hikes and canoe excursions provide an optimal opportunity to engage intimately with the local animals, or you may also attempt fishing in the splendid Kariega River.

The timber structure of the Main Lodge has been ingeniously crafted to harmonize with the natural environment.  Twenty-four wood bungalows elevated on stilts have individual decks with spectacular views.  Each cabin features a sitting space equipped with satellite television and a fireplace, along with a bedroom that includes an en-suite bathroom.  The communal spaces of the Main Lodge include tranquil lounges, a restaurant and boma, a bar, and a swimming pool.  The lodge’s Wellness Centre provides convenient access to exercise and wellness facilities.
