Greystoke Mahale : Rates, Reviews, Booking Information
Reside beside the chimpanzees adjacent to the lake.
Situated on a white sand beach at the unspoiled Lake Tanganyika, behind the verdant Mahale Mountains, the accommodations of the Greystoke Mahale camp are discreetly nestled inside the forest, showcasing the beauty of their natural surroundings. Attentive guests will discern the rustle of chimpanzees, indicating they are not the sole inhabitants of this natural wonderland.
The camp is among the premier locations globally for observing these primates. Tracking the chimpanzees is the primary activity at the camp, and guests can access them by a 20-minute walk or a three-hour hike, depending on their location inside the forest. Guests may alternatively navigate a dhow across the undulating waters of Lake Tanganyika.
The six thatched Bandas, constructed entirely from salvaged wood of dismantled dhows, provide an en suite bathroom, conveniently reached via a brief walkway. The Bandas include excellent details, such as ladders constructed from repurposed fishermen’s canoes, augmenting the castaway experience. The primary Mess Banda is the sole establishment situated on the beach and serves as an excellent venue for a delectable dinner.
