Governors’ Camp : Rates, Reviews, Booking Information
The ancient Governors’ Camp, situated along the meandering banks of the Mara River within Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve, was formerly designated for the exclusive use of the nation’s colonial governors due to its highly desirable position. Since its establishment in 1972, Governors’ has established new benchmarks for opulent tented lodging, consistently providing an exquisite experience beneath canvas in the enchanting Maasai Mara.
The reserve’s expansive plains and vast skies provide an ideal setting for its diverse fauna, encompassing the Big Five and an impressive array of avian species. The primary activity at Governors consists of guided wildlife drives in specialized 4×4 vehicles, conducted twice daily. Hot air balloon safaris and Maasai cultural excursions can also be organized, enhancing the experience with additional enchanting elements.
The opulent tents are dispersed throughout the riverbank forest, offering views of either the river or the expansive plains. The private verandahs and en-suite bathrooms, equipped with hot and cold water and flushing toilets, provide exceptional comfort. While seated on the deck of the bar tent in late July, one might observe the phenomenon of the Great Migration.
