Damaraland in Namibia is the habitat of the black rhino.

Desert Rhino Camp is located in the wild Damaraland region, characterized by its ancient watercourses, expansive grasslands, towering granite formations, and deeply etched gorges.  The region is characterized by unadorned beauty, fauna suited to arid conditions, and the largest population of free-roaming black rhinos in Africa.  The camp operates in collaboration with the Save the Rhino Trust, promoting the sustainability of the region and its residents.

Embark on a full-day safari, traversing the expansive terrain to observe elephants, gemsbok, giraffes, and Hartmann’s mountain zebras, along with predatory species including lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas.  Bushwalks focus on the modest animals and flowers that endure the exceedingly hostile climate.  Monitor rhinoceroses on foot, tracing their unique, odd-toed tracks with the assistance of experienced guides.

The Etendeka Mountains provide the backdrop for eight elevated Meru-style standard tents, each equipped with an en-suite bathroom.  The canvas tents lead to a verandah that offers a view of the stunning countryside, adorned with euphorbia and welwitschia plants.  Dinner is served in the tented dining and lounge area, elevated on a wooden terrace.
