 De Zeekoe is a 2,000-hectare operational farm that is part of a historic property over 150 years old, located in the semi-arid Klein Karoo.  Located at 7 kilometers from the historic town of Oudtshoorn, it marks the terminus of the 450-kilometer Route 62, an intriguing inland journey from Cape Town via vineyards, mountains, and rivers.

De Zeekoe is inhabited by approximately 3000 ostriches that freely traverse the terrain.  Consider visiting the adjacent ostrich ranch to attempt riding one in a bronco-style manner.  Fish or paddle on the lake, or traverse uninhabited trails on a mountain bike.  A distinctive activity, offered alone at De Zeekoe, is a meerkat conservation initiative.  If you are amenable to an early rise, engage intimately with wild meerkats and admire their inquisitive behaviors.
