Camelthorn Lodge

Camelthorn Lodge : Rates, Reviews, Booking Information

Under camelthorns and amidst elephants in Hwange, Hwange National Park presents a landscape of contrasts. The wet season features extensive seasonal floodplains inhabited by diverse avian species and sizable herds of elephants, whilst the dry season witnesses escalating conflicts between herbivores and their predators near water supplies. Camelthorn Lodge, situated beneath acacias and camelthorn trees, offers visitors an intimate glimpse into life on the southern periphery of the Ngamo plains.

Hwange is the oldest and largest national park in Zimbabwe. Situated along the route between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls, the park encompasses approximately 1.4 million hectares and hosts over 100 animal species and 400 bird species, though it is predominantly renowned for its impressive elephant population, estimated at 44,000 individuals.

The primary lodge of Camelthorn is situated around an ancient tree of the same name, which predominates its outside deck area. Exhausted from a day of safari activities, including night drives, bush walks, and village visits, retire to one of Camelthorn’s eight Forest Villas, each including en-suite bathrooms, a fireplace, a ground-level terrace, and an upper outdoor maisonette.
