Within the Winelands’ Unique Gardens of Babylon
The Hanging Gardens of ancient Babylon is an experience none of us will ever have the opportunity to encounter. At Babylonstoren in the Cape Winelands, you will discover a similarly enchanting, yet rather rustic, manifestation of this ancient marvel.
Situated equidistant from the cities of Paarl and Franschhoek, this historic property features an expansive garden containing over 300 species of food plants. The estate’s horticulturists conduct daily tours of the grounds, and visitors are invited to participate in the planting and harvesting of crops. For individuals who choose to avoid manual labor, the Garden Spa offers classic treatments enhanced with fresh herbs from the garden. At Babel Restaurant, one may enjoy uncomplicated, farm-to-table cuisine, whereas the Greenhouse offers light meals.
The farm’s Luxury Cottages were crafted to emulate the traditional Cape Dutch farmhouses of the Winelands region, offering views of the undulating vineyards. Each cottage is equipped with air conditioning, a mini-bar, full breakfast, free parking, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
