Rural allure in Amakhala Game Reserve
The Fowld family estate, formerly a wool farming operation in the 1920s, was subsequently transformed into the prestigious Leeuwenbosch Country House after the adjacent countryside was designated as Amakhala Game Reserve in 1991. Visitors may dedicate their days to seeking the Big 5 and their evenings to reveling in the antiquated splendor of the manor house.
With numerous attractions in the vicinity, travelers may find it challenging to experience everything. Experience wildlife drives within the reserve and sunset cruises down Bushman’s River, or explore the 1820 Settler town of Grahamstown, the core of “Frontier Country”. Coastal tranquility is located in the adjacent Kenton-on-Sea and Port Alfred, while in proximity, South Africa’s inaugural Stegosaurus skeleton was discovered just one kilometer from the reserve.
The former sheep-shearing shed, Shearers Lodge, features four en-suite bedrooms with stunning garden views and a family suite. The 1908 manor house features five Country House apartments adorned with a blend of exquisite antiques and contemporary conveniences.
