Amakhala’s farmhouse-chic safari adventure

Amakhala Carnarvon Dale formerly served as a refuge for fatigued travelers whose routes were obstructed by the inundated Bushman’s River.  Currently, the proprietors welcome discerning visitors to seek solace in their 1820 Settler Farmhouse and 1907 Edwardian Top House.  Situated within Amakhala Game Reserve, visitors may partake in a real safari at an affordable price.

Translating to “aloe” in Xhosa, Amakhala’s 7,500-hectare terrain is characteristically adorned with these beneficial succulents, in addition to the Big Five and various mammals including giraffes, cheetahs, zebras, and numerous types of antelope.  Proximate attractions comprise Addo Elephant National Park, featuring elephant-back safaris, and the 18-hole championship Bushman Sands Golf Course.

The two en-suite bedrooms in the Edwardian Top House at Carnarvon Dale provide uncomplicated accommodation that ensures guests feel at home.  Lunch is provided in this residence, but breakfast and dinner are enjoyed in the 1820 Settler Farmhouse.  Although twice-daily game drives will occupy a significant portion of your time, guests may also partake in guided bush walks along the river and invigorating swims in the pool.
