Camp among Namibian dunes & big mountains

Since it’s only 45km from the main gate to Namib Naukluft Park, Agama River Camp is a suitable stopover for guests on self-drives into the scorching dunes of Sossusvlei.  The camp’s moniker is inspired from the colourful, long-tailed lizard that roams the vast savannahs of this African region.

Situated in a parched riverbed, near the villages of Solitaire and Sesriem, the striking Naukluft Mountains rise to the east of the camp.  Treat yourself to a hike across the highlands and become lost in the wonderful quietude of the sweeping red dunes of Sossusvlei.  The camp includes a viewing terrace where guests will enjoy sundowners that are cooled and sunsets that are magnificent.

Despite its secluded setting, the camp offers numerous domestic amenities and an astonishing amount of relaxation facilities.  The chalets are set on the upper banks of a river course with huge toilets and contemporary utilities, and the campsites are sprinkled along the lower banks under large acacia trees.  The welcoming restaurant and bar serves wonderful food and drink, and a swimming pool is perfect for lessening the heat of the Namibian sun.
