Nkomazi Game Reserve : Rates, Reviews, Booking Information
Nkomazi Game Reserve, named for the life-sustaining Komati River, translates to ‘place of water.’ This biologically diversified wildlife sanctuary, which hosts the Big Five among other species, is situated southeast of the Kruger. This region features vast valleys and undulating grasslands and has long been recognized for its significant geological value, containing some of the planet’s oldest rock formations, many adorned with San rock art.
Nkomazi’s varied terrain accommodates game species from both the Lowveld and the Highveld within its 15,000 hectares. Engage in fly-fishing in the Komati River or participate in a guided nature walk within sections of the reserve. Mountain bikers will be keen to traverse Nkomazi’s trails, while wildlife drives will constitute the day’s pinnacle, and stargazing will be the nocturnal highlight.
The five-star Komati Tented Lodge, situated by the Komati River, harmoniously integrates with its environment and emanates a ‘Out of Africa’ ambiance. The Noble and Royal Tents have individual plunge pools and observation decks. The primary lodge features a dining tent, lounge, terrace, outdoor dining space, Relaxation Retreat, and gift boutique.
