The South Luangwa National Park encompasses almost 900,000 hectares of remote and expansive terrain, characterized by woodlands, grasslands, and the meandering tributaries and canals of the Luangwa River.  The majority of animal observation occurs near the river, where visitors may encounter some of the park’s 450 avian species and many mammalian species, including giraffes and hippopotamuses.
