Okonjima Plains Camp : Rates, Reviews, Booking Information
Among the large cats of Africa
Okonjima Plains Camp is located in the midst of desolate golden plains and undulating hills, positioned equidistantly between Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, and Etosha National Park, a premier wildlife sanctuary in the country. The family-operated resort was transformed in 1993 from a cow farm into a conservation initiative, currently focused on rescuing, relocating, and rehabilitating Africa’s big cats.
Encounter leopards and cheetahs in an unprecedented manner—pursue these spotted felines on foot via Guided Walking Trails or within a game-and-nature-viewing vehicle, observing their predatory behaviors and social interactions in their natural habitat. Attend the hide after twilight to observe a porcupine, caracal, and honey badgers foraging after nightfall. Self-guided walking routes provide privacy, whilst the Bushman Trail illuminates the survival techniques of the local San people.
The camp features a collection of elegant apartments that provide views of the Okonjima grass plains. Each room is furnished with dual sinks, an expansive bathroom, two double beds, and a separate verandah. Soft shades of blue and green adorn the rooms, accentuated by light streaming through expansive windows. The dining room encompasses two tiers and provides patrons with beautiful vistas of the rolling terrain while enjoying traditional fare.
