8-Day Wonders of Kenya & Tanzania – Luxury

During the eight days of this vacation, you will travel through the famous Maasai Mara, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro in Kenya and Tanzania. It is possible to customize this tour, which departs Nairobi and concludes in Arusha. We can focus the tour on either the Serengeti or the Mara, depending on the location of the migration. 

Day 1: Transfer to Masai mara National reserve

You will travel to Masai Mara National Reserve early in the morning.

It remains one of the few locations on the planet where the vast numbers of animals that formerly roamed the African plains and forests now live relatively unaltered. The dramatic seasonal migration of thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and accompanying predators takes place in the Mara, which is the northernmost point of the huge Serengeti ecosystem. You will get there in time for a game drive in the afternoon after lunch.

You will spend the night and have dinner at the resort or campground.

Day 2-3: Explore Masia mara National Reserve

After breakfast, we will embark on a full-day game drive, complete with a packed lunch. The reserve is well-known for its black-maned lion and its diverse resident animals. It is also one of the few spots where you can spot the Big Five on a morning game drive. Many cheetahs are so docile that they seek shade from the blazing sun under a vehicle, and a few even climb onto the roof to obtain a better view of potential prey.

For the bird enthusiast, nearly 500 species have been recorded: among them, 16 species of eagle, many hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, 4 of bustard (including the Kori bustard, the world’s biggest flying bird), and 9 and 9 species of sunbirds.

Dinner and your overnight stay will be at the campsite or lodge.

Day 4: Transfer from Masai Mara to Serengeti National Park

You will go on a morning wildlife drive in the Masai Mara. We will start the day with an early morning wildlife drive in Masai Mara before driving out of the national reserve. After crossing the border, drive to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. On the route, there is an opportunity to visit the famous Olduvai Gorge, where Dr. Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the first man to walk the Earth. After a brief lesson on the archaeological digs and geology of the gorge, you will have opportunity to visit the modest museum.

It will be a long day of driving, but the game drives into and out of the parks may be quite spectacular.

Dinner and overnight stay will be at the campsite.

Day 5-6: Serengeti National Park

You will spend two full days in the Serengeti with a flexible itinerary and unrestricted mileage.

The huge Serengeti spreads out in front of you as you summit the ridge. Serengeti translates to “endless plains” in Kiswahili. This 6,900-square-mile (18,000-square-kilometer) park is home to about 2 million large species, including over a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, and Thomson’s gazelle. The amount of prey that migrates around the park attracts large predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. Many smaller creatures, including rock hyrax, bat-eared fox, mongoose, honey badger, jackal, monkey, baboon, and African hare, live in the area, as do nearly 500 different bird species. In the afternoon, in the afternoon, you will have a game drive en-route to the campsite.

Day 7: Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

We advise you to get up extremely early on this particular day so that you can go on an early morning game drive, when the animals are more active, and take in one of the most breathtaking sunrises you will ever see. Following the game drive, we will head back to the camp for a satisfying brunch before visiting Ngorongoro, the eighth wonder of the natural world. With its 2,000-foot-tall walls and 102-square-mile expanse, the crater is essentially Noah’s ark, home to nearly all of East Africa’s native fauna. One of the very few places on the entire continent where you can see a black rhino is here. The crater features a soda lake, many marshes, and a river with a high concentration of flamingos, a forest and open plains. It’s also famous for its elephants which are the largest in the world and have huge tusks. Ngorongoro Crater is truly a Wonder of the Natural World.

You will reach Ngorongoro in time for a sundowner. Possibility to upgrade your accommodation level.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater

For an amazing morning of wildlife viewing in one of the most breathtaking locations on the planet, we will begin the day very early and make our way down into the crater floor. There will be time for a picnic lunch close to the stunning hippo lake following the game drive. Following lunch, we will have time for a quick game drive before climbing the crater and leaving the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in the direction of Arusha. We anticipate returning to Arusha by approximately 5:00 p.m. We are adaptable, though, in case there is a flight to catch or another circumstance.
