Preparing for a warm and humid equatorial climate involves bringing along plenty of comfortable, light, and loose-fitting clothing, along with sun protection and insect repellent.

Congo Travel Advice

Every traveler taking part in adventure in Africa, would like to how safe and all the relevant information before making that trip. Look no further, here is all the quidding information you will need when visiting Congo for safaris. Wit the number of our travel expertise to offer you all the information you will need. Congo has been undergoing a lot of insecurities and wars which has greatly affected the tourism sector thus causing a lot of challenges and fear for many visitors in the country or planning to visit Congo.

 Money and spending

Safari travelers are unlikely to come across the Central African Franc (CFA), which is the currency of the Republic of the Congo. The few wilderness lodges in the nation and the foreign hotels in Brazzaville take US money, British pounds, and euros.

All meals, beverages (save for fine wines, champagne, and liqueurs and spirits), and laundry services are included in the prices for our suggested lodging (underwear is not laundered according to local norms). As you check out, you may pay any additional fees or gratuities in cash in the international currencies listed above.

Climate

  • The average temperature at night is between 16°C (61°F) and 21°C (70°F).
  • Rainy seasons include March through April (brief rains) and October through December (long rains).
  • For temperature charts and information on when to go to Congo for wildlife watching and gorilla trekking, see “best time to visit Congo.”

What to pack for safari in Congo

Bringing enough of light, loose-fitting, comfortable clothes, bug repellant, and sun protection is essential for a tropical environment that is warm and humid. A thick fleece for the odd chilly night and rain gear are also necessary, especially during Congo’s two wet seasons. There is a year-round danger of malaria, thus taking measures is highly recommended. Ask a doctor about the medications you should carry.

Bring good hiking boots (break them in before your trip), long-sleeved shirts, pants, and gaiters or long socks to put over your pants if you want to go gorilla trekking.

Tipping

Tipping lodge employees and guides in your preferred foreign currency is usual, as long as the service is satisfactory. Ask one of our Africa Safari Experts for detailed tipping recommendations; they would be pleased to share their experience with you. The amount depends on the services rendered and your own based interest.

Flights and Transportation

Did you know that Go2Africa offers airline booking services? Please visit our Flights section for further details and answers to often asked questions.

The metropolis of Brazzaville is home to Congo’s Maya-Maya International Airport, which is serviced by many African airlines in addition to Air France from Paris. Frequent flights to Nairobi provide hassle-free beach vacation and East African safari add-ons, as well as convenient international connections.

Charter planes will take you to your safari lodging, so there is not much need to wait once you are in Brazzaville. The majority of game watching activities are done on foot or by boat, while 4X4 vehicles are used for road transfers to lodges and local drives.

Passport and Visa Requirements

All tourists, with the exception of those from nearby nations, need a visa in order to enter the Republic of the Congo; they are not given out at the airport. Usually, a 15-day tourist visa with one entry is enough. You may be required to provide documentation of your tour, lodge, or hotel reservation upon arrival; a hard copy of your booking confirmation is sufficient. Your passport must be valid for six months. All visitors, with the exception of babies under one year old, must have a yellow fever certificate.
